Calculate What You Need And Keep Costs Down!

Determining the amount of material you'll need for a landscaping project involves a few simple steps:

  1. Measure the Area: Start by measuring the length and width of the area you plan to cover with the material. For irregularly shaped areas, break them down into smaller sections and measure each separately.

  2. Calculate Square Footage: Multiply the length by the width of each section to find its square footage. Add together the square footage of all sections to get the total area to be covered.

  3. Determine Depth: Decide on the depth of material you want to apply. For example, if you're spreading mulch, a common depth is 2-3 inches.

  4. Calculate Volume: Multiply the total square footage by the desired depth (in feet) to find the volume of material needed in cubic feet.

  5. Consider Overestimation: It's often wise to order slightly more material than your calculated amount to account for slight variations in depth and ensure you have enough to complete the project.

By following these steps, you can determine the amount of material required for your landscaping project, whether it's sand, mulch, or any other material.
